Roof work in cooler temp

Just an update, we got it done just 2 days before the huge rainfall on Sunday. So far so good, fingers crossed. Couldn’t afford a new roof so just adding another layer for now. [Roof](//muut.com/u/brownstoner/s1/:brownstoner:AuD4:roof.jpg.jpg)

We need to repair our roof and all the roofers that we asked said min temp is NOT an issue. Assuming its not below freezing. We plan on putting a new layer of Firestone SBS in our roof, just concern that the lower temp will make the glue less effective. Anyone have personal experience on roof work around the 40-50 degrees?

If you’re worried, this job should come with a ten year warranty from a reputable roofer, so it would be on them to fix it anyway. I’d give Fred from premier a call if you haven’t already. They’ve been doing this type of roof for 80 years, and I’m sure they could tell you if there are any problems working in 40 degree weather.

A few years back I needed to do a job like this during winter. Before my date came up, there was a blizzard and the roof was covered in snow and ice until spring forcing us to postpone the work. Every day the sun would melt the snow on the roof and make it leak like crazy, much worse than in normal rainfall. My takeaway? Try to get the job done before winter.

Temp usually is not an issue down to about 40-45 degrees. But call a reputable roofing company

We had our roof put on when it was around that temp. They wouldn’t do it when it was consistently below 40 (same with concrete work.)
