Retractable ladder for the rooftop
Hi,
Can anyone recommend a contractor who can install a retractable ladder that goes up to the rooftop. I have seen a few models available on Wayfair etc but would need help installing it or getting something more sturdy

Thank you Cate. I have a metal ladder that is functional but just not very usable ..wanted to get something easier to use to get some usability of the roof. We had a metal hatch installed but that contractor has gone out of business.

Do you already have a ladder you wish to replace, or do you have no means of getting onto the roof? We ought to replace our sagging wood one with metal. Roofers have told us we can buy such a ladder online and have it installed by a construction firm, but the details seem fuzzy. Maybe one could start by inquiring at a cast iron or steel shop, since it seems likely one would need a custom length. Maybe the local fire department would have an idea. Just doing a bit of googling, I see City Steel Products and Steel Masters NYC are two such firm that make various types of roof ladders. (Never heard of them or dealt with them before, I’m sure there are many others.)
