Retaining Wall Permit

Do I need a permit to construct a 2’ tall retaining wall along property lines? Planning to put a fence atop it once completed. Assuming 6’ is still the maximum height of fence, or is it 8’ (2’ wall + 6’ fence)?

No, only if the retaining wall would be higher than 4 feet would you need one. Free standing fences/block walls, maximum 6 feet, measured from grade. Get a professional lot line stake out done though, as not to have any disputes with your neighbor about placement.
