Renovation project budget tracking
We (private homeowners, not contractors) use an excel template right from the program at no extra cost to track our project spending. They have a variety of formats specifically for renovation spending – and you should be able to hit all the marks you want within those templates. In excel, select the new document option and on the menu that appears, you should be able to browse and search for a template.

How do you track a Renovation project budget. Do you use any software like Quickbooks? Need to track actual vs forecast at percentage or time period. For a friend that is planning a Gut Reno and Extension.

Excel/Google Sheets is going to be the most straightforward way to set this up unless you are already using something more complicated.
Most likely your bids will (hopefully) have been broken down into the various divisions by your architect when preparing the forms, so you can use this as a starting point.
I would use tabs to keep things orderly and track things like owner-supplied items, requests for payment, retainage etc.
