Recommends for widening patio door

@resident2 Thx for the info. Wondering if you had a recco for contractor who could handle a job like this. Its not a renovation, but definitely not a small project.

Looking to increase the opening of my current patio door to accommodate a larger french door. Any recommends on who could handle a small(ish) job of this nature?

It is not a small job.
You will probably need a new lintel and depending on if you have a frame house? A Brownstone? you will need either a stone mason or a structural carpenter as well as a metal worker for a steel lintel. Plus the finishing plaster, paint etc.
You should probably have an engineer create a plan for you, so that any contractors that you do speak with, have a frame of reference as to what is expected. Otherwise you are susceptible to some hack non contractor really screwing this up.
