Really Steve? It was my first car andO loved it, but the Dart was a POS. 13” wheels, with drum brakes too small to stop the car in a straight line. An ignition that stopped working in the rain. I could go on and on!

we all loved our first cars, often for the wrong reasons. my mother had a ’74 scamp (the dart’s plymouth cousin) and the glove box filled with water every time it rained. i hated chrysler as a kid because of what you said, “POS”, but now, as a collectible?

recall the Brownstoner named “mopar”? In the greater world, mopar is an acronym for Motor Parts Corp (chrysler’s parts division). i could not understand why someone would call themselves “mopar” in light of the questionable reputation of Chrysler. i met “mopar” once and had to ask her if she was a big chrysler fan. i always imagined she drove a plymouth GTX with a 440 engine in it. I don’t recall what her reasoning for the mopar screen name was but I think it had less to do with cars and more about something else and i was pleased to hear that –
