Recommendations to Buy Wood Flooring and Vinyl Windows in Brooklyn or Nearby

Hi,

I’m looking for recommendation as to whereto buy wood flooring, Select grade unfinished white oak- 4-6 inch planks. Open to other flooring, finished real wood and herringbone engineered and unfinished.

Also need recommendations as to where to buy reasonably priced vinyl windows. Need both black and white vinyl. Must have good warranty. Thanks.

recall the Brownstoner named “mopar”? In the greater world, mopar is an acronym for Motor Parts Corp (chrysler’s parts division). i could not understand why someone would call themselves “mopar” in light of the questionable reputation of Chrysler. i met “mopar” once and had to ask her if she was a big chrysler fan. i always imagined she drove a plymouth GTX with a 440 engine in it. I don’t recall what her reasoning for the mopar screen name was but I think it had less to do with cars and more about something else and i was pleased to hear that –

we all loved our first cars, often for the wrong reasons. my mother had a ’74 scamp (the dart’s plymouth cousin) and the glove box filled with water every time it rained. i hated chrysler as a kid because of what you said, “POS”, but now, as a collectible?

Really Steve? It was my first car andO loved it, but the Dart was a POS. 13” wheels, with drum brakes too small to stop the car in a straight line. An ignition that stopped working in the rain. I could go on and on!

well bob, the ’67 dodge dart was about as cool as the dart ever got. i seem to recall one of my grandfather’s sisters having one. that was about as cool as she got.

i would do anything to have one today.

LOL—Brooklyn or Manhattan? I drove a yellow cab while I was in graduate school. Someone said 42nd Street @ 8th Avenue and I started driving west. They meant Sunset Park. Back in 1969 I didn’t even know that there was such an intersection in Brooklyn.

JH and i were wrong. the flooring supply is at 60 12th st.

JH, all of us on here understand the confusion with the streets and avenues that we have all encountered when we were first in brooklyn and even just yesterday someone said something about “14th st” and i had to ask “brooklyn or manhattan?” toss in the unknown Lowe’s locations and its a nightmare for a beginner.

op, mapquest this location. the first time i tried to get to that lowes i drove around in circles because some of the streets dead end there, including 11th st which deadends at the side of lowes. its a mess.
