Question on 421-a rent stabilization
There are certain conditions after vacancy when the unit might deregulate. Better to ask DOF.

Hi all,
I live in the Brooklyner and have a rent stabilized lease because the building is stabilized due to 421-a until 2027. I am looking to move to a different apartment in the same building, but the leasing office is telling me that my new lease will not be stabilized which I believe is illegal but I can’t confirm. If the building is still stabilized until the end of the 421-a abatement, shouldn’t all new leases be stabilized? I also believe that 421-a is exempt from high rent destabilization so the cost of the rent shouldn’t matter. Any advice is greatly appreciated.
