property tax correction denied

I filed my property tax appeal on time, trying to change my property tax from 4+ to a 3 family after receiving my new C of O last year. Today I received a denial letter:

“no correction will be made. this is the final determination on your application … you failed to follow printed instructions on the correct application form to obtain review of the claimed assessment error on your property”

So:
the city fails to align their taxation with property records and puts the burden on you to tell them that your C of O has changed.
Then they deny the change just like that and without telling you which detail in the form was completed incorrectly so that you are forced to overpay another year and most likely will fill it out incorrectly next year again.

I think there’s a way you can appeal. I’d go there in person & ask for help both on an appeal & to find out what you did wrong on the paperwork. For the most part, I’ve found them to be helpful. Good luck!
