Property damage by neighbor burning trash

Any advice neighbors where burning garbage in their back yard and it got away and cought my yard on fire so the fire department came and bulldozed fire breaks though my yard knocked down trees cut down fence to get to their yard . They dont have home owners insurance. Seem that much damage would be against the law.? Im talking 400ft long tracks.

I’d recommend peonies or bearded iris for the fire breaks, and oakleaf hydrangea for the fallen trees. You really can’t go wrong with azaleas though.

I imagine you could self-insure if you buy all cash. Any mortgage lender is going to require insurance.

Burning garbage outdoors is illegal in New York City. Prob have to go to small claims for any financial restitution
