Problem with Vulcan Waterproofing
A few years ago my basement cement floor started cracking. I noticed some water along the front and back basement walls as well. I did some work outside the building last summer to solve the problem but found after heavy rains I still had water in my basement (never pools of water, just wet cement/dirt). I called Vulcan at a friend’s recommendation. Ralph Travis came out to my house and told me the water tables have been high in Brooklyn these last few years and that I needed to install a french drain with sump pumps to solve the issue. I told him I’d already spent quite a few thousand dollars on the issue and he assured me that Vulcan guarantees their work. Cut to $6,000 later and still the problem persists. I followed up with Vulcan a couple of weeks ago thinking they would stand by the work and fix the issue but, after sending photos and Mike Davis coming out to look at the issue, I was told I need to cement the floor and get a dehumidifier. I escalated the issue further to the regional manager, Mike Solman, who told me again this is a humidity issue. Well the patter n doesn’t look like it to me. Furthermore, if it were a humidity issue than why did they put in the french drain ? It feels like small claims court is my best recourse at this point but am reaching out here on brownstoner to see if anyone has advice. Thanks.
