Paint Stripping Company Recommendations?

Hello! I’m looking for recommendations on companies who do paint stripping either on site in my home or where I could send items to be “dipped”. I have two original pocket doors as well as my original staircase bannister and balusters that I’d like to be done. Thank you in advance!

Katie, I have used Joe Salem (Woodzone) repeatedly for stripping and refinishing and could not be happier (sorry, @booisgolden, I don’t have other names to recommend). He has done multiple projects for us (from our front doors to lots of interior work and even furniture). I don’t believe he dips anything (most was done in place).

The finished product is beautiful and he is really careful with clean-up and very mindful of fumes and chemicals, especially around children. I am happy to discuss if you would like (just give me a way to contact you) and can also give you my address so you can see the doors he restored for us.

I’m also interested in hearing recommendations for someone other than Woodzone – who is frequently recommended here katie on the site if you search. There are others occasionally mentioned but not sure if they’re still around.

Also, I’ve heard that dipping is not good bc the wood soaks up too much of the stripping chemical in the bath and the wood will ooze it out over time (technical term). Not sure if that’s true but worth considering.
