Paella windows question - Iron Ore or Eldridge gray

We have a light brick house and we’re getting new windows. Our architect is suggesting Eldridge Gray but I’m wondering if that’s too trendy. Windows aren’t something you want to switch out. We would like the windows to pop a little so we’re deciding against a white. Anyone pick Eldridge Gray and wish they hadn’t? I know this is very specific question. I TOTALLY call your autocorrect a win! I love it! We need more of those around here. My autocorrect issues are usually indecipherable or boring or both. Certainly not appetizing, that’s for sure.

Andersen has a fine reputation as well their reputation for standing behind their product is pretty close to Marvin — my only minor issue with them was a visible small strip of plastic on the “all wood” part of the frame interior — HOWEVER — that was several years ago, and the design might have changed since then. Also I have been repeatedly informed that absolutely no one else noticed it — or, if they noticed it, it didn’t bother them (even my sig other thinks I’m nuts over it — it didn’t bother him in the least after I pointed it out).

We went with Anderson because we couldn’t afford the Marvins and I kept reading so many bad things about Pella. I can’t remember the name of the series, but they are aluminum clad on the outside and wood on the inside. We went with a natural color wood, and they look amazing and function really well. We’ve had them for 2 years and we love them!

@booisgolden I’m calling it a win that autocorrect made this a more appealing or mouthwatering thread. So we’re looking at the architecture series, a line that’s about 6 months old and has extruded aluminum on the outside just like Marvin (the contractor says). Anyone have experience with them? Unfortunately, Marvin is about 30% more and we’re looking at about 17 windows. :-/

Other than remarking to myself that I get hungry every time I see the title of this thread, I have been biting my tongue, trying to refrain from re-opening the Great Window Debate, as the Resident Marvin cheerleader here on the forum.

But since we went there . . .

We have had many friends and neighbors install many brands of windows, and none of them had a good experience with Pella. Just sayin’ —

Don’t buy Pella! We have Andersens, Marvins and Pella in our house (don’t ask — cash flow and timing issues). The Marvins are excellent and beautiful. The Andersens are excellent but not pretty. The Pellas look bad and function worse. At first sight, they seem slim and elegant but imho they are under built and short lived.

i chose gray windows for my house, i think it’s something different from the usual white or black/dark bronze. Makes it feel a tad bit more like a custom choice.

Saffron? (sorry, couldn’t resist). I like the Iron Ore color swatch better, but it really is hard to comment without evaluating the options against the house style/color as a whole.
