outside shed
My shed was built with the supporting posts directly in the ground and a concrete floor poured around them. About 35 years ago a handyman, why was actually a landscape architect and gardener, replaced the rotted pars of the wood with pressure treated lumber and built a concrete foundation under them.It’s held up remarkably well.

I can’t recommend people because I work for Brownstoner but depending on the way it was constructed originally, you may find the foundation needs redoing. It should extend down past at least a foot or so to prevent frost heave, make sure the earth underneath is compacted so it doesn’t shift, and it should come up at least six inches above ground level where it meets the studs, so water doesn’t seep in under the walls.

Cate, the frost line is a lot deeper than “a foot or so”. I think its 48″.
Guy down the road has a garage that he took all off the walls down on and rebuilt because they were cracked and moving. He did not redo the footings. Ten years later the walls are caracking and moving again.

A general contractor with years of experience with masonry and concrete, additions, and insurance would be able to handle. Be advised demolishing and replacing a shed requires a permit, but “repairing” a shed does not. DOB may consider the difference to be what percentage of the structure is replaced (I’m not sure).
