Optimum Fiber Install Advice?
To update, they did the install on Saturday. It took about two hours the technician to run the fiber wire to the house and we just used the existing hole the coax was in for now. System has been running great using our own mesh routers to serve the whole house.

Anyone have optimum fiber installed recently in a brownstone? We just got notified that it’s finally available on our block, so I’m wondering what they will WANT to do vs. what we’d PREFER them to do. Currently our coax comes into the back corner of the parlor floor but that’s just because that’s how the cable was originally set up. We use mesh wifi for the entire house.

In my experience, they will typically bring it in from wherever it is closest and easiest, but if you have a specific preference or instruction, they will accommodate you. BTW we have had Optimum for years and it’s been somewhat unreliable. Everyone we know who has Verizon Fios says they have never had an issue.

Unfortunately Fios isn’t available on our block (it was supposed to come right before Covid hit but now they seems to have stopped their expansion). Our install day is in a week and I’ll see if they can run it through the back hatch to the garden floor through the cellar. I’d rather not have another hole in the back of the house.
