Ok to change hot water heater on approved plans
Light not turning on could simply mean the thermocouple needs to be replaced or could be something else.

Hi,
The hot water heater that is on the approved plans for our house is old. When they tried to light it, it would not light. Is it okay to purchase a hot water heater that is not on the approved plans? Is this a problem for the gas inspection?
Thanks

Is the model and make of the hot water heater on the plans? Do you have an active file with the DOB?

Hi, yes. The model is on the plans. File active. Found out we have to use the same one or amend the plans.

Refile the schedule B and Gas riser diagram if it shows the information. Your Architect should be able to amend.

As long as the hot water heater isn’t leaking it might be possible to repair it
