new windows and window ac units
Just DO NOT follow the installation instructions that tell you to drill into the windows etc.
You must use the NYC required bracket to hold them from underneath and also put a brick or some other bracing on the outside window sill for the unit to sit on a piece of 2 x 4 normally works quite well.

install mini splits instead. I don’t think it’s possible to install a window unit without causing some damage to the windows.

Not sure how window AC units damage windows????!!!!!!!! Maybe you can damage them installing them but they just sit on the sill. If you think it’s going to damage the sill, lay some wood on it so it doesn’t.
