Sorry to hear about your problems. I had a hard time findinga contractor to come for a small job and ended up using Sweeten.com. They took about a week to match my project w 3 potential contractors, who each came within 48 hours and then each put in a bid within 48 hours. The one I chose came to work the next day and finished within 2 weeks. It was remarkable! I have never had a project finished so quickly!
