Need someone for in wall speaker wiring and an ethernet jack

Hi-

I want to run speaker wire from my amp through the walls to the speaker location. I also want to pull a cable run up from the demarc point in my basement and install an ethernet jack upstairs.

Anyone have a good rec for someone to do this?

Either one is fine. It will be a cinch for an electrician to pull cables and that why I thought that could be good, but you need someone who knows how to make the cable terminations. Electricians likely do, but if not that person could be you with a few tools from Amazon. An IT type person could probably do it too. Either way I think this is a situation where you’d get a better price from “a guy” than a company. But you never know.

Thanks for the responses. @Murrayhill- The ethernet jack is for my primary wifi access point. For a variety of reasons I elected to put the demarc in the basement. As a stop gap I have the primary access point there and have additional access points on the upper floors. I want to get the primary point out out of the basement and onto the first floor, hence the need.

Would the consensus be an electrician over someone tech focused? I’m mostly concerned about them doing a good job pulling the cable and not making too much of a mess.

i am not sure someone who thinks of himself as an electrician (unlicensed or not) will be the person. i just don’t see a lot of electricians carrying the sort of tester used on these cables. more of an IT thing i think. (but yes, union electricians consider this in their trade; they learn it in training).

perhaps this, have some handy person pull the wire and you go to HD and buy the tool and tester to put the ends on. easy. i have done it but sometimes crossed wires (there are 16 of them i think) and hence the need for the tester. by the way, they have both cheap and more expensive testers for these, so not a lot of $ to do this yourself.
