need some advice

I appreciate it if you can provide advice. I am opening up walls on the top floor; putting in a header on one which is a bearing wall; how can I prevent if this should happen prevent the ceiling underneath from caving or collapsing. any suggestions.

If you are working on the top floor there will be far less weight. However, it’s always best to make some T bars for extra support on both sides of the wall you are removing to install the header. If you are not experienced and feel this is risky you should use an experienced contractor.
