Need ironwork for stoop gate

Our stoop gate has bars widely spaced enough that one can put their hand through and open it from the outside. We need an iron worker who can layer iron mesh or a grid behind it to make it more secure, or better yet – a piece from a good salvage yard that does the trick. Any recommendations?

Or if Greschlers doesn’t have the mesh w. attachments to affix to gate for you to do yourself, purchase mesh screening outright from “Park Avenue Building”, 2120 Atlantic Ave and ask for Jacqueline Lopez, Account Executive in charge of The Steel Dept. 718-403-0100… as well, her husband, Greg Kowalski is an iron-worker.

Greschlers is the absolute best hardware store in Brooklyn if not all of NY, both for their products and their service. I have been going there since I was a kid.
I do not think they carry the mesh you would need for the gate though, I could be wrong though as they have just done a major expansion of their store as well.
They are open now, just following social distancing protocols.

Just install mesh. Any iron worker can do it, and it shouldn’t cost much.
