Does anyone know how often National Grid or NYS mandates the safety home gas inspections? When they started the program, my home was inspection in late 2018. My tenant just received a threatening letter that he has to schedule an inspection or they will receive a $100 fine and then service termination. Just wanted to see if Precision pipeline solution forgot to document the inspection in 2018 or they are doing this every 2-3 years?

The one you are referring to is the Header Piping (Task 86) inspection done by National Grid by Precision. They are soon going to change that though and make it a Master Plumber hired by the homeowner, or so they say.
“To avert tragedy, Task 86 / 87 requires mandatory safety inspections of gas meters and piping. Businesses receive inspections every year. The law requires that homes receive inspections once every three years. The New York State Public Service Commission requires that all gas customers comply with scheduled safety inspections; however, you can request that inspectors conduct the work at a time convenient for you.”

Thanks for the info @Chris Petri … I called the National Grid/Precision hotline and the rep said this is done every 2-3 years. My last inspection was Aug 2018 so its that time again.
