BUG certainly poluted in the bad old days of manufactured gas, but that was replaced by [somewhat] cleaner natural gas long before BUG seemed to have developed a conscience and started giving back to their community in a big way.

And they used to have chickens at their building around easter! But then they also are associated with toxic coal gas waste in the gowanus area, so…tossup?

I miss Brooklyn Union Gas which, unlike National Grid and its predecessor Keyspan, actually cared about their community. [BUG did a great deal to foster the “brownstone revival” of the ‘60s and ‘70s].
