Moving kitchen towards the center of house on ground floor

We are planning to open our ground floor, keeping the living room as is, at the front of the house, while opening the rest, moving the kitchen to the center, dinning room moving to the back next to the garden. I was wondering if anyone has done something similar in a brownstone and what are the key points to keep in mind. It would be great if anyone would like to share a similar project!

Personally I always prefer the kitchen closer to the garden, especially for summer use and dining outside. But besides that; venting becomes a major concern, you do not want the whole house getting cooking smells floating up the stairs etc. it is much easier to vent straight tout into the rear garden.
