Moving in before work is finished?

Legality aside you might want to assess the progress of your renovation to determine how livable the house is. Also would your occupancy significantly delay your contractor’s work, possibly adding to your cost enough
to offset the expense of another sublet?

We are renting an apartment near the house we are renovating; lease is up at the end of April and the renovations won’t be finished by then. Legally, could we move in before everything is finished? I am thinking of trying to get a 1-month extension on our lease but I doubt things will be finished by the end of May.

Talk to your contractor /architect about this timeline and legality. I might ask about a 3 month extension…
