Mover recos for clawfoot tub

Hello,

Desperately seeking recommendations to move a large clawfoot tub (300lb 72”) from the parlor floor to the third floor. Our first two experience w a mover didn’t go so well. Help! Thanks!!

Some companies will do it and others won’t. I used Dumbo Movers a couple of months ago to move a 6.5 ft. 375lb tub up one flight of tightly curved and steep stairs. I had been told by others it was not possible. 3 guys came, wrapped it in bubble wrap and moving quilts. Done.

The movers you’ve called can’t move it, or won’t move it? The reason I said it’s not a job for a mover is the cost/time/effort/liability is probably not worth it to them. Cast iron tubs, new and old, get moved around buildings everyday. Don’t overthink it. Find a construction crew working nearby, ask three guys if they want to make $50 each during lunch or after work. 300lbs is not that heavy. – it’s pretty much like moving a sofa bed.

P.S. You have to think in terms of sliding it, instead of expecting some guys to lift the thing and carry it up. Work smarter, not harder. Using 2 x 6 joists flat on the stairs, and some heavy duty rope, it should slide right up.

To be clear, four movers can’t move it. I’m wondering if anyone has similar experience moving a tub or used a crane service. If so, recommendations are welcomed.

I think that moving a tub weighing hundreds of pounds might indeed be a job for a mover, depending on the size of the staircase.

It’s unclear what you are asking which is why no one answered.

Do you need a plumber? Or just someone to lug it? If you just need to move it then get a few friends over or find a neighborhood guy, or a contractor working on the block to give you a hand.

This isn’t really a job for a “mover.”
