Most "Natural" Artificial Turf | Cost
I have now been convinced of the wonders of a artificial turf for a Brooklyn Backyard. DOes anyone have any recommendations for the most natural look and feel that allows for heavy child/pet traffic? I was also told a sand fill is best for the substrate. Any thoughts and budget expectations is helpul. 15’x35′ area. Thanks!

Oh mine was a tacky covid fix not an install I’d recommend–our backyard had compacted dirt but isn’t leveled and smooth and so has bumps and divots and such. I can’t advise on the correct way to doit. That said, it feels great underfoot. It does generate static though!

Hey Lurker, could you let us know what reference web site/materials you used for the DIY install? How much leveling/tamping did you do?
We’re considering artificial but only if it’s DIY, makes no sense $$ for us if we pay someone.

We bought Pet Grow (on amazon) in rolls and self-installed very casually as a quick fix. It’s super soft and supple, I think 2-inches high, doesn’t tear out and water goes through easily. One roll did have lines from laying flat but it looks fine.

We used to have SynLawn for our balcony and loved it. But I am worried about leaves and other debris stuck in there for a backyard space with lots of trees above. How do you keep it clean during fall season?

Also – our guy used stone dust with 2 inch later of crushed stone and it is very comfortable, kids roll around on it all the time.

Also used Synlawn, and love it. Much smaller space – 15 by 12, $1300 for the lawn $1800 for installation/additional materials
