Missing co-op information

I have owned my co-op since 2014[.](http://google.com) The 1098 they provide each year has my share of the interest and real estate taxes but nothing else. I do my own taxes with Turbo Tax and the software never made an issue of my leaving the Mortgage Origination Date and Outstanding Mortgage Principal blank. It just added these items to my Schedule A in the appropriate line. This year it is insisting on this information. I can ask my building manager but they and the accountant are generally very difficult to deal

Just to be clear for some of the posters – we are talking about co-op building debt not the personal loan you used to purchase the unit / shares.

Look in annual report. It almost certainly has to be in there. This years may not be finished yet. Use last years numbers / dates temporarily if you must. Prorate the principal based on your share percentage in the building. Should be in the notes to financial statements in the back.

As a Co-Op owner (share holder) you are entitled to an Annual financial statement of the buildings accounts. It will show the current underlining mortgage principal balance.
The buildings accountant is hired by the board and will not deal with individual share holders. The Management company; ditto if that is how the board have directed them.
Ask the President / Treasurer of the Board.

Wouldn’t that information come from your lender, not the co-op? TurboTax may not understand you own shares in a co-op, not real property.
