Master Plumber for Boiler Inspection

Note- just had Harris Plumbing here yesterday for an inspection and all went well if still looking!

Does anyone have recommendations for a master plumber to file for a new gas boiler inspection with the city (not a conversion, just replacement)? The guy who installed the boiler had medical issues during the pandemic and everything got delayed until now. Looking for a no-nonsense guy/gal who won’t take advantage and charge me an arm and a leg. Thanks in advance…

“Nonsense” is plumbers signing off on other people’s work for a fee. Was the original guy able to pull a permit at all?

Going to be hard to find someone who does this without replacing the boiler…otherwise they are signing off on someone’s work.

If the other plumber is still alive but unable to work, could they not make a phone call to some acquaintances they have in the trade and pull a favor and ask them to step in? Op would still have to pay but if this plumber is known in the trade for good work and has not been a cut throat toward other plumbers, they might feel bad that he’s “fallen on hard times” and be willing to help out.

Or is there more to the story?

Just to note, messed up plumbing situations (or electrical, or…) like this aren’t especially rare, and the fact that it’s so onerous for another plumber (or electrician) to make a job official is really problematic. There has to be a way to make things whole and official that doesn’t entail unreasonable risk for the new plumber or the homeowner. There’s this complete disconnect

There is: remove the previous work and perform a new installation. Otherwise you need to ask someone to put their license on someone’s work.
