Market Value for Tax Purposes
here is a useful calculator that (sort of) explains how your property tax bill is determined.

Got the annual statement from the Department of Finance about the value of my home and it seems on the high end. It says I can appeal by March 15. Are there private services that help with appealing taxes? I am afraid I wont be able to figure out how to do it on my own.
Thank you.

But what is the assessed value? I got mine as well, and the market value was exactly what we paid for it last year, but the assessed value for tax purposes was ridiculously low. I don’t know much about this, but it seemed that the two were not much related. Did you see a big jump on your taxes?
