LPC and DOB during COVID-19

Hello,
I submitted plans to LPC for a gut renovation of my brownstone right before COVID-19 hit.
We had already had a meeting with them and there were only a couple of minor changes to make in the submission to get approval. After we re-submitted the changes, COVID hit and it’s been a while now that they have not answered.
What experience are folks in this forum having with LPC and DOB during these times? Is anyone getting any progress made? My expediter told me that they are supposed to be working from home and having the video meetings, but I’m seeing no progress.
Is there any limit in terms of how long they can take? i.e. is there some time limit after which if they don’t deny a permit it would be implicitly ‘approved’?
I am paying rent and mortgage and this seems like it will add months to my project timeline, which will end up in economic hardship for me.

Thanks everyone for their answers. Maggie O si right. I’m trying to get approvals so that when things reopen I can start work.
As an update, LPC magically approved my permit today! So it does look like they are working but the usual times are multiplied by 2 or 3.
I’m submitting the DOB this week. I’ll report back any progress.

That is correct, bobjbkln. I think the poster’s idea is probably to try to get as much of the permitting done as possible during the shutdown so that construction can begin without delay once it is allowed.

Under the governor’s order, I don’t think that you could do the renovation now, even if you had the permits, except with using only a single worker on the job at one time.

i can’t speak to how things are currently operating but i would say that even now there isn’t a time limit after which their failure to deny a permit indicates that it is thereby implicitly approved.
