Low/No VOC hardwood floor adhesive

In my opinion, when companies come out with newer products, it takes a little time for them to get them correct. I stay away from new products – low this or low that – until they have been out for a few years.

Perhaps the new eco friendly products are good but they avoided making them because the consumer was not ready for the added cost?

I’m looking for a non-toxic either Low or No adhesive to glue down 12″ red oak parquet squares we purchased at NY Hardwood Floors.

The store carries Stauf SMP 960 for No VOC, and Sika T55 or Bostik EFA for Low VOC options.

Anyone have any experience or recommendations for which adhesive would be best, and if No VOC is better than Low, and does it work as well?

I’ll admit I don’t really know much about glue down floors. I’ve used contact cement for cork flooring, and that didn’t seem too bad, it was water based. Then I’ve done tile flooring, and floating floors, and blind nailed T&G floors, and I’ve repaired topnailed parquetry. If you top nail your parquet, it will definitely be a voc free process, and looks pretty cool I think, but it’s not for everybody. Are you doing a border?

Op and i spoke on the phone about this last night and since i do not know about these products, i could not offer any more help than what the reviewers say on line.

There are some questions i can think of: would the installer be comfortable using something they have not used before;

If someone has a professional. I mean a dedicated floor installer, would we not let them use what they have been;

And while these products which might be newer may behave the same for the installer, do they have the test of time? Like 10 yrs?

Op, we had another question about these products and what they can be used over. Call the company tech team and put that question to them. I do it all the time, mostly with adhesives and finishes; it takes the guess work out. I will reach you off here.
