Looking for Residential Engineer in Park Slope

I’m not sure you’d be able to get a decent plumber or plumber to look at this. Or that they would know what they are looking at. Your best bet is a waterproofer/mason or a roofer. Lots of times it’s a drainage issue. Either your roof drain is clogged, disconnected or the pitch of your yard is towards the building instead of away. Next time it rains hard, go outside and see.

Who can recommend an expert engineer to diagnose the source of water leakage in the basement level of our townhouse?

your most revered and knowledgable local master plumber who knows the specific neighborhood and its nuances of house, sewer and other issues is your best bet IMHO. an “expert engineer” may not know which deficiencies are the most relevant for a specific house in a specific neighborhood, may spin their wheels investigating what the plumbers already know well. After all, this is one of the most common issues in this area for homeowners.
