Looking for good staining guy

Hi Folks, We regularly check brownstoner for help related to renovation as we are going through a gut renovation. We have many original details in all types of wood (cherry, white oak and I think also mahogany). The new shutter and bay window moulding is in poplar. We are looking a professional who is good at staining. Please can you folks suggest really good professionals.

i used to do this kind of work but have specialized. i have been looking for people now to take the jobs i wish not to do and most involve simple sanding, staining, and varnishing. the issue is, a lot of people do not wish to hand sand things (and your work may not involve that but most of these things would involve sanding) and consequently do not learn the rest of it. i do occasionally run into people but unless they carry insurance i cannot send them around to others. i have the name of a firm, but they are geared to larger scale projects and will want to control all aspects of something like this from stripping to the final coat and handle it as a “project”.

if you find someone it would be good to post them here. i know someone looking for someone to sand out a not-so-special door and stain and varnish it (in Brooklyn). i also have a request for someone to strip and sand out and stain/varnish a door in Long Beach. but these folks will hav e to know how to do this work.
