Looking for Energy-efficient Traditional Brooklyn Skylights

We’re renovating and looking for an energy efficient, traditional Brooklyn-style skylight that doesn’t break the bank.
So far, we’ve found a traditional skylight that’s sinlge paned glass and doesn’t insulate well OR a flat glass option that can vent but isn’t traditional looking and doesn’t last quite as long as the traditional kind.

Anyone have ideas? Thanks!

Last year our contractor did an amazing job installing two Velux fixed skylights.
I am very happy with the Velux product and with the installation. Both are great balance quality/price.

Check out Renaissance Conservatories – they do custom work and their team will collaborate and work directly with your architect & builder. (Also, regarding insulation/longevity: Issues that arise are often caused by other factors such as improper flashing of vents, chimneys or vertical walls. These defects often show up at the skylight opening., but before deeming the skylight to be defective, other possible causes should be ruled out by careful examination and a thorough testing.)

Lamilux skylights from foursevenfive. They are expensive but extremely well insulated, do not leak, and have triple pane glass. Curb and skylight come as one unit so they are less expensive to install than some other skylights. They also have a glass roof hatch.

I paid $2350, including installation. I was using a rather expensive roofer at the time and might have been able to pay less, but was dealing with a complicated repair that needed special expertise.

Velux is the way to go. Just the flat one, Domes are kind of 80s.
Velux are double pane, and the make them also with integrated blinds or frosted glass for privacy.
While you’re at it I recommend also getting a Bilco insulated roof hatch.
