Local law 31 & lead testing
Does anyone have any reasonable companies they recommend for this in Brooklyn?

So, I am mulling over the pros and cons of XRF testing for lead now vs. waiting for five years in light of local law 1. Testing now is attractive because the units are in part unoccupied due to the pandemic, and given that the place was thoroughly renovated in the 80s (and there is no paint on doors or mouldings), I am hopeful that there is not much lead, if any.
Can anyone think of any downside to testing now, as opposed to waiting for another 4 years? Do the results get reported or filed? Do the results trigger any immediate need to act? I would love to know what I have to do to remediate – and perhaps also apply for any exemptions that are applicable. But perhaps this is a situation where ignorance is bliss, and I risk triggering bureaucratic Armageddon that I am not able to deal with right now?
What what others doing? Wise thoughts and opinions (any recommendations for testing companies) welcome!

So, answering some of my own questions regarding when to test: (1) I understand that the testing is not filed with any agency and is only given to the landlord, so that it should not affect the landlord’s timetable for remediation. (2) That said, I was advised to hold off from testing until at least Jan 2022 unless there is a child involved. This is because there is a possibility that the lead standards will be made more stringent in December. It is unclear whether the current, less stringent standards will be grandfathered. Absent any grandfathering, if you test now under current standards, then the tests may become worthless. If you test under the stricter standards, which may not be implemented, then you may find more issues than you need to. Again, this situation is different if children are involved.
