Layout Ideas: 3 Bed 2 Bath South Slope Townhouse Renovation

If you have the normal layout with one stair on top of another, I don’t see why you need another stair for the parlor->downstairs connection. Just wall off the hallway as most people do.

A 6-ft spiral is plenty negotiable except for some paranoid dogs. It’s time to train your little ones.

Hi All,
We’re in the process of laying out the floor plan for a renovation in a 3 story townhouse. The top floor will be the rental and therefore the bottom two (and basement) will be the owner’s triplex. We’re building an interior staircase so that we don’t share the common hall with the tenant, but the stairs are eating up a great deal of square footage. The parlor (kitchen/dining/living) has a good flow, but the upstairs bedrooms are going to be tight. Anyone do anything similar and come up with creative ideas to maximize storage and space?!

There are many possibilities. If you’d consider putting the rental on the garden level you could incorporate the main stair and corridor into the triplex. You should work with your architect.
