We have a exterior brownstone front door with an older bronze knob and latch mechanism (non-locking as we have a double set of doors). The interior door knob on the external door came off and cannot be re-attached (the spring is missing and not sure how to repair it, if possible), and we can’t find a replacement set that meets the unique dimensions of the existing hardware and door. The backset is 7″ long (the latch being 6 1/2″ long end to end whether its retracted or not), the exterior rose is 2 5/8″, and the bore size is 1 5/8″. We have talked to a modern door and hardware wholesaler, but he’s struck out on finding anything that would work as a replacement (and custom is possible but not cost efficient). Short of having a whole new door installed, do we have any other options or sources (for salvage hardware perhaps)?

In those situations I have taken out the existing hardware and taken it to salvage places to see if I can match it.
