ISO repair glass bubble cellar cover in brownstone
Interesting. They’re called vault lights or deadlights, at least when they appear over hollow sidewalks in Manhattan. There’s a surprising amount of info about them on this wikipedia page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pavement_light I’m not sure who makes them but I would start with a metal fabricator who makes basement hatches and see what they say. The Landmarks Preservation Commission may also know suppliers, since many protected buildings in Soho have to maintain theirs. Good luck.

Not sure exactly what the glass bubble cover proper name is but we have one covering the access to cellar in the front of our brownstone building. Several circular glass pieces are missing and need replacement. Or should we just put a metal grate there instead? Please send me your recommendation. Thanks!
