ISO help with DOB violations

This is something you can take care of yourself. The fine is $500 per building, per inspection cycle; due for violations issued between 1992 and 2009 and from 2009 on it’s $1000 per violation. You go to boiler division at the DOB in Manhattan and pay the fines and make sure they remove the violations.

Need someone to help deal with Boiler inspection filing violations, some of which predate the purchase of the house. Have gotten estimates for their fees ranging from $650 to $2700 and I don’t really know whom to trust. Thanks.

try S & M Expediting, based in Brooklyn. make sure it’s clear whether the fees they quote you include the filing fees/penalties or if they’re only including their time. they should be able to reach resolution with 1-2 visits to DOB since this is primarily a paperwork and $$$ problem.
it’s always written off as pointless until something goes wrong, at which point everyone jumps all over the city about failure to properly inspect. the city does a lot of things wrong and their processes are obtuse and overly bureaucratic (hence the market for expediters) but regulating boiler installation and inspection isn’t pointless.

DOB doesn’t need to come out for boiler inspection violations.

I should have been more clear in my first response. In my experience, the city has settled the fine for $500 (per year/violation) and an expediter will charge something on top of that for their time.
