Is it ok to put basement electrical meters behind a door panel?

Billyhays. Not sure about a meter but I would not want my service panel too close to heat pipes as my some of my breakers are at their limits and any added heat might be enough to trip them.

We have a panel of smart electrical meters in the basement of a multifamily building. They’re in a finished basement so we’d like to add a door panel in front of them to hide them a little to make the room look a little more finished. It wouldn’t be locked or anything, just a basic wood cabinet door to hide them a bit.
Is there any safety issue with this?
Secondly is there any code issue with this?

no one has come on here so i will say this: i have seen them put behind by pass doors in quite a few finished basements. i can not speak to anything else you ask.

absolutely. my electric is behind a custom maple ply cabinet and my gas is inset into the wall with a cabinet grade door. Pretty much everyone I know who has a renovated basement has concealed meters.

Yep, seen it plenty of times. There are probably some rules about “space around for access” so you might want to do double doors etc that open right up and give plenty of clearance.
