If DOB does not have a copy or microfilm of the floor plans/ construction plans

for a building built in 1945, where else can the plans be located?

I had a hell of a time. DoB told me it’s Not their problem. Call the DOT. I called DOT they referred me back to DOB. Explain to them that I was sent back to them. Told me I was wrong, they were wrong. Now they sent me to the borough chief. I called the borough chief, they tell me to go back to the DoB. I explain to him that the DOB doesn’t want to do their job. Now I’m being directed to 311 within direct me to the DEP. I’m just gonna go to the office because anytime you deal with New York City nobody wants to do their job.

If, like mine, your house was one of several done by the same builder the plans might be in the folder for another house in the row,.

The DOB has lost most of the historic plans of buildings. In my 30+ years of renovating brownstones in Brooklyn I have only found one that was built in 1940 that had a complete set of plans.

Maybe HPD if there is an iCard for the building, but only likely if a multiple dwelling. Very likely, given the age of the building, they don’t exist. I assume you are trying to establish/prove an existing condition. Otherwise I would say hire an architect to survey and draw up the existing condition.
