I need a specific quartz stone remnant

green, thank you. my neighbor came over here with a sample from his own house and it matched perfect. so out we went in the car for another round of looking and by the time we got there, the remnants were gone. Flushing has been a thought but i did not want to run there without someone directing me, thank you. i will go today. thank you.

i need to find a stone fabricator who has a lot of quartz (ceasarstone and others) remnants lying around. specifically, i am looking for a piece of white high polished quartz (i can polish it myself if need be) with GRAY “marbalizing” in it. it must be at least 13 7/8″ x 57″ x 3/4″ to 1 1/4″ thick. I have been to every shop in Greenpoint, where i usually have door saddles made and none have the piece i need.

the reason i need this is, i bought all the rest of the stone for my own kitchen from the fabricator i use. i asked him for ceasarstone and had him cut 3 pieces. I said to him “i will need another piece in the near future, what is this stuff so i know what to ask for?” he told me “don’t worry, i have it all the time”. well months later, he does not have it and has no idea what i am talking about.

this is a lesson, one that i learned years ago. it is the customer’s responsibility to know what they are being sold. that said, if this guy was any sort of professional, he would have told me what it was (it may not be ceasarstone but another quartz, an d i don’t care; i just want a match) not just told me “i carry it all the time”. I should have known where this would end up. i am a contractor and we keep a book here of what stains and finishes we use on each job by address and if i am at a customer’s house, i hold the can up and tell them “take a picture of that”. this all lends to the lack of service and unprofessionalism that i have sometimes complained about in modern NYC; when i asked the guy, he was dismissive.

FYI: when i was employed by professionals who managed properties, they would have made me take a picture of every label or grab a label from every paint can, every roofing product, everything that was being installed on the property. that is how professionals protect their jobs and that is how we should protect our homes.

anyway, if any folks can give me the names of some fabricators with a lot of remnants lying around, that would be great.

cate, that is what I am thinking. it is the backsplash and we had tile and I broke it off before getting the stone and guess what, my other half is not happy. she would be ok with tile again, I wanted the stone. I like it.

part of why I posted this is also to show people what can go wrong when we do not protect ourselves. after college, I worked for a property management firm and when I was first in NYC I supervised operations in a building. if this had happen at work, at best, my bosses would have looked at me like I was stupid. at worst, i can see someone being fired for allowing this to happen (i allowed it here in my house; i should have nailed the supplier on what he was giving me, it was my responsibility).

i still need the names of some stone fabricators though.
