HPD Violation for Previous Owner's Work

HPD is not as difficult as the DOB.
This should have come up in your title searches and report, your Attorney did not say anything?
Is the hand railing still there? Is it part of a roof deck that was approved by DOB?
Is the a house a 3 or more family house?
If the answer is no to all of the above, just do as the HPD person told you to do, take a picture to show that it is NOT there, pay the admin fee (there is always an admin fee) either hand deliver it or send it certified mail and the it will disappear off the record.
If the railing is still there and it was NOT filed with DOB, why was it put there? Just remove it, take a picture to show that it is no longer there. If DOB approved it, then find the approved plans and the sign off in the DOB records, make copies and send along with your HPD forms and of course pay the admin fee.

Really appreciate any advice on this matter. I just discovered (by looking up DOB violations online) that my house has an HPD violation from last year for a rooftop railing that was installed by a previous owners. This is quite upsetting as I paid a lot of money for the house and how I have a serious violation. HPD advised me to download and fill out an Application Form and along with a letter explain the situation but I am afraid thats not enough. Anyone has any idea how I can solve this issue? Any pointers will be greatly appreciated.
