Help with my bluestone patio!

Are you sure you have blue stone? or is it a composite? Blue stone does not flake or “dust”, is it slate? Slate flakes….

I had a bluestone patio installed under my deck, the deck is protected and I installed a drain system so no water would leak to the patio below. A year after the stone was set I found the stone started to dust and start to chip away. The “dust” is rather sever, like I can take a layer off the stone. I have power washed it and every year it does it again. I call the guy that installed it and he is clueless to what’s going on saying he has installed thousands of bluestone patios and this has never happened. He’s suggesting that we clean it and seal it, he says he will do it free of charge even though it’s 6 years later. Does anyone know what may have caused this to happen?

I actually just noticed a bit of this on a few of our bluestone pieces too- I was wondering if maybe water had frozen on it after seeping into a fine crack.
I have no advice for you, but please post what you find out. Good luck!
