Hardieplank siding question

I am needing to replace some siding on my house. The hardieplank edge is not matching my existing edging. We have replaced some boards before when we had our garage door replaced and had no problem with it matching. I contacted JamesHardie company and they said they have indeed changed the edging on the board. My hubby recalls that when we had the repairs done previously that they used a machine in the field to add a edge on their smooth boards. Is anyone familiar with this? Is it possible?

hey, i handled this stuff a million years ago and am aware that it is a cement fiber board. i suspect it must be fine cement as it is cut with saws correct? this means a router can probably shape it though it may wear the blade more than wood might, so if you ask a carpenter to do it, don’t be surprised if he pushes back a little. a used router bit may be what is needed. also, a simple bevel or round over can be done with a sander or even by hand sanding and my guess it would work on this type of board. i round stone over all the time with sanders.
