Hardie Installer recommendation

Hi Freckles: curious about your installer search. We are pretty much in the same boat. Decided that that Hardie is the way for us to go and want to get it done soon but are debating on who to use. Licensed or regular contractor? There seem to be only two firms doing most of the work (Permier and GoodGuys), which may already have spoiled pricing. Any recommendations based on your search?

I have done two houses with fiber cement siding (which is what Hardie is) One was Hardie the other a Canadian company.
I initially was planning on giving the 1st job to the Hardie recommended contractor: Good Guys Contracting… (they should not call them selves that). Because I had no experience, nor did my regular contractor/carpenter working with it before and my contractor was busy doing the interior renovations and I wanted to get the whole job finished sooner rather than later, so we decided to contract out the exterior facade work.
Good Guys Contracting took forever to get an “estimate” together and their contract was so vague it was a sure thing that the job would end up costing at least double what they were estimating and the estimate seemed excessive, considering the cost of the materials and how long they were estimating it would take.
We ended up doing it ourselves. Almost any competent construction carpenter can install this. It is not much different than working with wood siding. A few extra steps, sealing the raw cuts etc. Trims are AZEK which is easier t han working with wood.
The finished job on both, I am very happy with. We did not hesitate about doing the second house with our regular crew of carpenters. Not Hardie certified, but when you read the fine print of their warrantee it makes no difference.
