Going rate for housecleaner?

We pay one person $140 every month for four hours for a duplex. We’re actually contracted to pay $120 but we add another $20 as tip. (All the money goes to the cleaner, it’s not via a service.) We also tip lavishly on other occasions when warranted such as giving a full day’s/month’s pay/bonus at the end of every year, etc.

We’ve got a great housekeeper whom we’ve worked with for a number of years but I’m beginning to worry that with inflation etc. the rate we pay her is not sufficient.

Our place is a three-floor brownstone in Bed-Stuy, four total bedrooms, four total bathrooms, and we currently pay her $200 every two weeks.

I’d be very grateful for any thoughts on whether this is above or below market. Thank you.

Ours is roughly the same. Only two baths though. We pay her $200 every week. Takes about 6 hours. That’s over $30 an hour which seems fair.

I have a three bedroom, three bath, four story home and hired a new housecleaner in September who comes every two weeks. I had three cleaners come and see the house and each of them asked for $200, so I think that you pay the going rate.
