I actually have to correct myself. Water sanitary inspections are needed for boiler installation or for work involving water or sewer systems. For strictly gas work only gas related inspections needed.

What is involved in the inspection of gas lines is a pressure test — which involves disconnecting appliances and capping gas lines, the gas lines are filled with air at a measured pressure (3psi), and then the inspector lets time go by to see if there is a resulting drop in pressure (otherwise known as a leak).

Visual inspections aren’t an important part of the above. You can’t necessarily put eyeballs on a threaded connection and spot a gas leak.

Inspections: Gas rough in, gas test, gas finish. Water/sanitary rough in, water/ sanitary finish Then you need gas authorization for Nat Grid to turn meter on. Nat Grid with plumber will do purge in and start gas appliance. Then you sill need sign off and close permit or LAA.

they did the rough inspection which was good; what is involved in the final inspection. Also the meter was locked after the tenant left and national grid should be coming to unlock it; I believe national grid inspects stove

And then National Grid does their pressure tests and inspections, before they will turn the gas on or install a meter.

If you have new gas piping then you needed to have an LAA filed with the DoB. Then there’s a rough inspection and a finish inspection. The inspector looks at every inch of the gas piping, bar none.
