Have been in the Brownstone Community for some years. It seems to me that since the change to the new format there are a lot less people participating in the discussions weekly than in the past. Is this accurate or is it my misconception?

I think you’re correct. I suspect that many people did not rejoin aand there are posting problems for those of us still here. (AFAIK it’s still not possible to post from cell phones).

there have been complaints. people see me writing on here and think i have some special connection or communication link to the gods that control this forum and they often complain to me when they call me to inquire about my services. i do convey the complaints to the powers that be and i know they are appreciated because they are acknowledged.
i myself have trouble signing in from both my phone and computer and sometimes it takes several tries. or it says i am signed in and i go to post and it signs me out. i complained about this on sunday and one of the gods seems to have fixed it because here i am. I have a regular customer telling me he cannot post from (i think) his phone. i heard this as recently as ten days ago.

Until about 10 days ago, I was unable to log in to the site. I could read, but not post. Then, miraculously, one day I came to the site and it worked.
I guess people just got got frustrated and stopped coming. If the site now works for everyone, perhaps some will drift back as they discover that they can post.

Yeah – the site doesn’t seem to play well with Safari. This has been going on for months. John of Gateway Plumbing was at my house (doing the gas pipe inspection) and mentioned he’s given up as he can’t log in. That is a huge loss for the community. Me not being able to post or comment? We are probably better off.

I just replaced my ancient iPhone SE with an iPhone 16 and hoped I’d be able to post from that. No luck! I can still only post from my computer, using Chrome. That’s a problem because I usually read Brownstoner on my phone. I think one of the most important things the Brownstoner tech people could do to increase participation would be to once again enable commenting from mobil devices, something possible on virtually all other sites.

I use Chrome and it says I’m logged in when looking at the forum, but when clicking on a post, it says I need to log in to post a comment. I click the login link and am brought to a page that asks me to confirm my login info. I do that and nothing happens, so I click on the forum link again and start the process over again, and again, etc. I was able to log in to this comment today by just hitting F5 to refresh the page, and voila it now says “Welcome Jim”.
Login issues aside, am I correct in remembering that the forum used to have posts with links to Brownstoner stories, Houses of the Day, and other stuff? Adding more links to the forum could make it more active by using it as an aggregator so we don’t have to go to the individual links on the ribbon.
